The Tools for the Job
I’ve been accumulating the things that I know I will want while I travel. Since the car will be my main modus transporati, I’ve allowed myself quite a few new comforts. Here is a brief list of new acquisitions and general items:
- An archtop guitar – I went with a Godin 5th Avenue.
- A collection of unread literature – I stock mostly to philosophy and sociology with F.A Hayek and Hume, and supplemented with the uncollected works of J.D Salinger. There is much more than this, but this is what I’m most excited about.
- Granola, cranberries, and pecans.
- A medium-sized duffel of clothing.
Since I’ll also be camping and hiking as much as possible I have picked up a few accessories in the minimalist hiker category:
- A good tent for two people.
- A big, warm, flannely sleeping bag.
- A small lantern.
I’m trying to keep any pack I strap together under 25 lbs. and I think I’ll be successful even with a 10lb sleeping bag!
Update: I’m sending the Godin back, it’s not worth it
